The name Jari Alana is a loose play on words to mean handcrafted by Alana (Liana's first daughter). Jari Alana is an online store for women's and kids' traditional apparels based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Jari Alana was founded in June 2014 by Liana M. soon after she left her position as Assoc. Account Director with an advertising agency in Kuala Lumpur. Being half Kelantanese and Javanese, her love affair with the aesthetics and design of batik began at a young age especially from these two regions (Indonesia and Kelantan) which are equally renowned for its fine batik.

Liana is a homemaker with four kids. She holds a Bachelors' Degree in Architecture and a Masters in Facilities Management. She is currently underway to obtain a Doctorate in Business Admin (with a Major in Entrepreneurship). 

Hailing from a family with deep creative roots has instilled within her a keen sense and passion which is apparent in her PhD research with a focus on Entrepreneurial Marketing of batik SMEs in Malaysia. To her, it is important to preserve the unique legacy of batik with a modern spin on the traditional print.
